2018 10 Acre Pinot Noir

Planted in 1997 on our eastern slope, the 10 Acre block is the oldest section of the Estate vineyard. The block gets its full sun in the cool, mild morning hours. This wine was created to exemplify how cooler conditions impact Pinot Noir, and to honor our first plantings. The resultant wines are delicate, with finesse and fine balance.

Possibly our most aromatic 10 Acre ever, the nose is explosive with bright red fruit, rose petal, bing cherry, strawberry, and dusty currant throughout. It is a wild, yet restrained nose that has complexity, vibrancy, and nuance. The palate is soft but persistent. Tannin pushes and pulls from front to back and both sides, but pleasantly so, providing a supportive and elegant structure that doesn’t overwhelm. Red cherry, violet, and young blackberries skitter about, and a wash of creme brûlée splashes on the finish. This wine is a real stunner. Slow developing, despite the impressive aromatics on the open, it has extended charms that suggest this will be a long-player, and can be enjoyed for the next 2-8 years.
